This position reports to the Water & Wastewater Supervisor

The incumbent is responsible for managing the compliance of Water & Wastewater programs for private hydrant maintenance, Fat, Oil and Grease Interceptors (FOG) as well as the storm water quality management (SQMD) programs. Assist the Plumbing Inspector- Water Distribution & Wastewater Collection to ensure conformity with the City of Moncton By-law’s. This position is also responsible for the implementation and coordination of monitoring and violations of various by-Laws such as P-102 and P-215 (or newer revisions of such). This will involve investigating by-law complaints and infractions; gathering evidence and preparing reports on violations; issuing notices and orders to comply with By-laws; attending and presenting evidence in court; interpreting and explaining applicable by-laws statues and regulations; and undertaking or assisting with by-law amendments to assist with remediating violations. The Compliance Officer will work with established policies and By-Laws but will be expected to exercise independent judgment and initiative in resolving technical issues or complaints. The Compliance Officer must have strong public relations and dispute resolution skills.

Assists Water & Wastewater team in various aspects of special projects such as RFP’s, tender’s RFQ’s, Work instructions and other projects as deemed necessary.
